Region : CAP CORSE REGION

The Cap Corse region is a part of North Corsica with Bastia as its most important municipality. Situated in the far northern part of the island.

This one is one of the most beautiful of the island but also the most contrasted region with its landscapes among the wildest, its uneven relief, its forests, its mountains, its perched villages on the mountainside but also its wonderful small creeks.
Its highest point is the Mont Stello (1307m) which is only at 5km as the crow flies from the eastern coastal.

The Cap Corse Region, wild and preserved natural heritage is also a rich in history region, restless by the multiple barbaric invasions where are grouped together more than a third of the famous Genovese towers built on the island in order to alert the population in case of invasion.

This one stretches in the north from a Bastia-Saint Florent line, on about 40km long in the way north-south, and 10 to 15km large. At the headland of the Cap Corse, between Macinaggio and Centuri, the road surrenders the coastal. Here begins the realm of maquis.
